THE SHIPTONS MILE!
WHAT IS IT?
The Shipton's Mile is a home-made pub run situated in the main town of Knaresborough, UK. If you're a big fan of the Cornetto Trilogy, you may have guessed that it is incredibly inspired by the film The Worlds End written by Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright, starring Pegg and Nick Frost. Throughout the film, a group of boyhood friends reunite to 'partake in a liquid repast' and to conquer The Golden Mile - a fictional pub crawl in a fictional town called Newton Haven.
This film had brought us to want to emulate a such fun yet sometimes chaotic theme to reunite our old friends together and enjoy a day to drink and remember as we crawl along a mighty golden mile. Just without the alien apocalypse chasing us down.
WHY KNARESBOROUGH?
Knaresborough is a charming small market town located in North Yorkshire, three miles east from Harrogate. It's quiet, old-fashioned and astonishingly scenic atmosphere makes it perfect for a days trip to enjoy the river Nidd, the seasonal markets and of-course, the pubs. It is home of many stories such as The Mother Shipton, The Blind Jack of Knaresborough and even Guy Fawks.
We would never have realised how perfect this town was for our pub crawl if we hadn't have checked out its glorious pub The Worlds End, the same name as the final pub in the film. From here it was just a case of exploring what Knaresborough could offer us as we build our mile long line of 12 stunning pubs.
